These door hanger quilts designed
by Vickie Valdez Green and Linda Valdez Ripley are fun projects suitable for beginning
quilters. The "Drawing with Chenille" technique was developed to give
a furry effect without dividing lines that occur in standard chenille processes.

- Sewing Machine Needletown feature would be helpful
- Good full size fabric and paper scissors
- Small (7 inch) spring loaded fabric scissors (Fiskars)
- Glue Stick (washable)
- Freezer Paper
- Air erasable marking pen
- Small sponge or paper towel
- a wooden stillette such as a long toothpick or orange stick
- pins
- steam ripper
- adhesive roller or masking tape
- 24 inch ruler
- Clean wire spark plug brush (at hardware or auto supply store)

By following the simple directions in this pattern to make a
jacket motif you will learn the basics of "Drawing with Chenille".
Simply put, this technique is a matter of making individual chenille
strips out of 6 layers of fabric, then using these strips to first
outline and then fill in your design.
