Gingher Seam Ripper
Item Code: NSRG |
|
This latest gadget from Gingher has been out for awhile - but I wasn’t willing to write about it until I had one in my hot little hands! After all, when is the last time you saw a seam ripper that retailed for $28.00??? At that price, I better be able to touch it first! Well, I got to play with one this week - and it was worth the wait.
The curved blade is retractable - and the curved shape fits comfortably in your hand.
But lets face it, this thing looks wicked! I was afraid that the razor sharp blade might cut the fabric - right along with the thread! This concern was unfounded! The slightly rounded tip - and the thickness of the blade - stopped it from penetrating the threads of the fabric. But it easily cut the sewn threads and made quick work of my “reverse sewing”.
This is the perfect tool for a long arm quilter as well. It makes short work of removing stitches when tension problems surface. The tip of the blade slides easily between the top and the batting.
Yes it is expensive - but this is an heirloom quality tool that will never need replaced. In this disposable age, when is the last time you’ve heard that???
With proper use and care, the blade should last a lifetime and is covered by Gingher’s guarantee.
