- Use with your rotary cutter and rotary cutting mat
- Cut multiple Dresden blades quickly and accurately from 4" to 7"
Length
- Design your Dresden Plate with 16 (22.5 degree angle) or 12 blades (30 degree
angle)
- Finish your Dresden Plate with a scalloped edge or a point.
To use the Dresden Express - Cut
desired fabric in strips 7” wide.
- Lay fabric strips on cutting and place
Dresden Express over the top. (You may layer several strips of fabric.) To cut
22.5° blades, line bottom edge of fabric strips on the horizontal lines just below
the 22.5° marking on the Dresden Express.
 -
Insert cutting blade in tear-drop openings and cut in all 4 slots. This will yield
3 blades.(If you cut several layers of strips, you will have 3 times the number
of blades.) It takes 16 blades to complete a circle using the 22.5° angle. To
continue cutting additional blades. Simply lift up the Dresden Express and shift
it over the remaining fabric, lining up after your last cut. To cut 30° blades,
follow the same instructions as above, placing your 7" fabric strips on the
horizontal lines just below the 30° marking. It takes 12 blades to complete a
circle using the 30° angle.
- Once all your blades have been cut, determine
the length of the Dresden blade you desire and if you want the outer edge to be
scalloped or pointed.
- For scalloped plates. Line up each Dresden blade
under the 4" to 7" guides at the top of the Dresden Express . To cut
a scalloped 6’ blade, for example, line up the narrow bottom edge of your blade(s)
under the 6” marking. Using your rotary cutter simply cut around the top curved
edge to complete jour scallop.

To machine appliqué the outer edge of the plate, stitch all blades together
with a 1/4” seam allowance, beginning at the wide end of each blade. Place plate
on background fabric and machine appliqué around the entire plate in a matching
thread. To hand appliqué the outer edge of the plate. Stitch all blades
together with a 1/4’ seam allowance beginning at the narrow’ end of each blade
and stopping 1/4” from the wider end Press under a 1/4’ hem around the outer scalloped
edge, position plate and hand appliqué or machine blind stitch to background. -

sides out and press with the seam down the center.

u/fold a 1/4 seam allowance. hand appliqué or machine blind stitch the plate to
the background fabric. - To make the center of the plate cut a circle of
fabric the desired size and machine appliqué in place. Or-cut a circle of thin
cardboard the desired size and a circle of fabric 1/4" larger Hand baste
a long running stitch just inside the outer edge of the circle. Place cardboard
on center of wrong side of fabric and pull up thread to gather hem evenly around
cardboard. Press; remove cardboard and basting thread, and hand appliqué or machine
