Step 1 With right sides facing, lay 1 triangle atop a square, aligning square corners. Notice that the triangle tip extends beyond the square. To fit triangle exactly to the square, use the pink trimmer to trim the tip perpendicular to the short side of the triangle. Stitch the triangle to one side of square as shown.
Step 2 Open out triangle and press seam allowances towards triangle. With right sides facing, lay the second triangle atop the joined pieces. Again, notice that the triangle tip extends beyond the square. To fit triangle exactly to the square, use the blue trimmer to trim the tip perpendicular to the short side of the triangle. Open out triangle and press seam allowances toward triangle.

As easy as 1 2 3
TIP:
This method will ensure your triangles are pre trimmed with the
tiny fabric tips that you normally cut off after sewing already
eliminated. Be sure to cut these triangles with your strip folded
in half so half the triangles are trimmed on the right end and
the other half on the left.

TIP: If your blocks finish in a 1/2" increment or you want to "float" your blocks in a diagonal set, use the next largest block size.
TIP: You use the same width strip to cut both the side and corner setting triangles. If short on fabric, first cut a corner setting triangle from the strip, then, cut the remainder of the strip into side setting triangles and finish by cutting a corner setting triangle. |
