What Computer Skills are needed to run Quilted Photo Xpress™ 2.0 (No Longer Available) or Quilted Photo Xpress 3.0 (AVAILABLE)?

This is an extremely simple program to operate. Only basic computer skills are needed. You do need to know how to browse for photo file saved to the computer. This can be a photo that is saved to a CD when film is processed, taken from a digital camera card, scanned, or sent via e-mail.

What type of picture files can be used?

Any standard photo image file can be used:

• Standard graphic bitmap file: bmp
• Commonly used on the Internet and sent via e-mail: jpg and gif
• Window Clipboard files: wmf and emf

The software does not recognize program specific files like Fireworks png files or Adobe Illustrator files. If you wish to use a file from other software programs, save/export them as a bitmap for the best detail rendition of the photo.

NOTE: Each square is numbered, this corresponds to each value assignment
of the fabrics selected.

The program will assign value, size (depending on the picture and square size selected) and generates a palette printout to use when selecting fabrics. The Printout choice will match the palette selection. Use the printout to help you determine which fabrics and values to select.

• You will have to print multiple pages depending on the number of fabrics and detail selected.
• NOTE: The larger the squares, the more pages will print out.
• Tape the pages together, and you will be ready to start your quilt!
• The printout will be numbered based on the photo processed detail, the size of the quilt and the number of fabrics you selected to be used.

Printout adjustments can be made when selecting the printer: Version 2 (not available) and Version 3 (available) have differences, see above chart for details.

Printer Resolution (dpi) allows you to determine the print quality.

• You can also manually set your printer options when the printer dialogue box appears. HINT: To save expensive ink, select a econo mode of printing. Each printer varies.

Design Hints & Tips

Use in Version 2.0 (NOT available) & 3.0 (AVAILABLE) of Quilted Photo Xpress

Use a photo to create an interesting interpretive quilt study using scrap fabrics, paints and more.

1. Use Photo Detail and Cropping to generate ideas quickly.

Your quilt can be very realistic to very abstract.
NOTE: Use the Slider bar to change photo detail. The change can dramatically
alter the final output of the photo as seen in the examples.

You also have the ability to crop a photo by using ZOOM: 1. To engage the Zoom feature built into Quilted Photo Xpress™, use the mouse to click, hold and drag across the picture. 2. To explore additional design choices, use Restore Original Button to return to the original photo and repeat step 1.

How do I process the photo to generate a quilted photo design?

1. Locate the photo you wish to process by clicking the Open Photo Button.

2. The Open Image File dialogue box will open. Browse to the photo file location and open the file.

Version 2 (No Longer Available) Version 3 (No Longer Available): TIP: To create alternate design choices, alter the image BEFORE bringing it to Quilted Photo Xpress™: Consider using a graphic program or scanner to make contrast and color adjustments to the image. I for dramatic variations I am more satisfied with the results when I change the image in an outside program first.

Then I brought the photo into Quilted Photo Xpress™ and processed each to see the design potential.
