There is an option to add an outline around each color division for a stronger definition that will help those who feel they need additional help to define the color areas.

The numbers identify the color (paint or fabric) to be used
for each section
The Color Numbers can be deselected to reduce detail even more

If the artist or quilter wishes to select a color palette that is different from the photo, using the Print Mode Black & White helps to differentiate values when selecting colors.

The level of detail choice would depend on the depth of color in the image and the finishing technique (appliqué or embellishing / shading with paint & freehand thread painting.)
If the project is to be a finished art quilt that incorporates beading, thread and fabric painting, numbering and more detail would be very beneficial.
If the goal is appliqué, less detail and fewer colors would be a better choice to help with creating the appliqué pieces.
A
quilter wishing to do an appliqué quilt may be required to reduce down
the number of lines to the lowest level. ![]()
NOTE:
To generate a lower level of detail slide the Button closer to the low side.
Sometimes on a very detail picture with great color depth may require some additional hand/manual editing with paper and pencil to make the appliqué pieces large enough.
Another option would be to combine shading with beads, decorative yarns, threads, fabric pens, paints and inks on top of the appliqué for additional detail.
