Freeware YesUcan, KeepHere, KeepFive, WhatCooks
Download Instruction Page

by Sharla Hicks © 2000

Computer Requirements: Windows 95/98/00/ME/NT/XP

Each program contains blank database(s) prepared by Gordon Cooper. The database(s) allow the addition of reference material from any number of sources, books, help files, mail lists and more.

  • Note: Previous users of the YesUcan, install the latest YesUcan version as a new program, THEN there are full instructions in NEW YesUcan on how to move your OLD info over to the new new version.
  • For a direct link to the Info-EQ mail list, click here.
For additional information about the programs, go to the Computer Quilting BYTES article by Gordon Cooper: KeepHere, KeepFive, What Cooks OR YesUcan - What are they? click here

Instruction to download KeepHere, KeepFive, What Cooks, OR YesUcan from the Internet using Netscape or Internet Explorer

Suggestion: Create different Folders to download KeepHere, KeepFive, What Cooks, & YesUcan from the Internet using the following directions.

1. HINT: Use your desktop (this is the screen that is visible when no programs are open) to place your 2 download folders on. This allows you easy access to install and create shortcut icon. AND, this is an easy place to remember and find a folder because the folder is not buried in directories and subfolders inside of subfolders inside subfolders if you get my drift.

HINT for those a little more comfortable with downloading files and orgainizing your desktop icons and folders: I have a Quilt Folder on my desktop for all my quilt icons. If you put the KeepHere and YesUcan folders in the Quilt Folder, it segregates the quilt related items from other clutter on the Desktop area and gives the desktop some visual and logical organization.

NOTE: Computer quilters who are more comfortable with downloading files, choose any location you wish for downloading. But I do suggest that you review the Install portion of this page as KeepHere, KeepFive, What Cooks, & YesUcan have a couple of quirks to be aware of. click here

NOTE of CAUTION: Scanning for viruses is a good idea when bringing new files to your computer from an outside source, especially .exe files, (Exe files are application file.) Every precaution is taken by us and by our server to make sure that no viruses are present in our download files. But caution is always the most prudent mode of action.

To create a Folder on your desktop:

Step 1: Right-click on an empty section of the Desktop (this is the screen that is visible when no programs are open) and a pop-up menu will appear.

Create new folder menus

Step 2:
To create a new folder: Go to NEW in the pop-up menu (see Look up), then drag the cursor to the arrow to open the side flyout menu that shows Folder. Select Folder (see Look up).

Step 3:
Change the name of the folder from New Folder to KeepHere, KeepFive, What Cooks OR YesUcan: (suggestions, make all folders at the same time, then you can download all programs one after the other)

New Folder examplea. Using your mouse, RIGHT-Click on New Folder (it will gray out).

b. Type in a new name for the folder (suggestions: KeepHere, KeepFive, What Cooks OR YesUcan.)

:

Step 4: To start the download, click save.
NOTE: Busy Internet browsing times result in slower download times and connection integrity can be more unstable. NOTE: If you get an interrupt/partial download, retry again, if that fails again, try at again later. KeepHere, KeepFive, What Cooks OR YesUcan are small files so the following probably will not be a problem, but for your information download times depend on:
