About
the AuthorPicking up the threads of a tradition started by her great-grandmother, Pepper has been a quiltmaker since 1972. In addition, she designs templates, stencils, and fabrics for quilters.
The author of two classic books of quilting designs, Quilting Designs from the Amish and Quilting Designs from Antique Quilts, Pepper has published numerous other books and articles. Her third book, the groundbreaking design text Crosspatch, 1989, inspired readers to take their first steps in contemporary quilt design. She also researched the Drunkard's Path pattern in Happy Trails, 1991, and signature blocks in The Signature Quilt, coauthored with Susan McKelvey, Mastering Quilt Marking, 1999, is considered a classic on the subject.
She began teaching quilting as the owner of Culpepper's Quilts in East Lansing, Michigan, and continues to travel and teach internationally, sharing her expertise and love of quilting. With her husband, Rod, Pepper lives on the North Carolina coast where they share their home with a pair of lucky cats who double as bookends and quilt testers.
