About the Author

Pat Holly has been sewing almost her whole life, beginning with sewing clothes as a young girl. She is a graphic artist and attended the University of Michigan School of Art & Design. She also spends time volunteering for her daughter Alyssa's theater endeavors, including costume work for local productions.

Sue Nickels also has been sewing much of her life and was an art major in college at Eastern Michigan University. She has pursued a professional career in quilting for the past 15 years.

The sisters enjoy working together on quilts as well as patterns and books. They live about a three-hour drive from each other and find creative ways to manage working together on projects. She travels extensively, teaching machine techniques, and Pat will join Sue occasionally, especially for international trips. This bas been a wonderful working relationship. Pat and Sue work so well together because they both love the connection with quilters of the past and enjoy the technology of today.

Back Cover Information

Two machine quilting masters show you the tricks of the appliqué trade.

  • Accessible & easy to learn, this new fusing method yields beautiful finished quilts with optimum precision. Even fussy little pieces will have sharp points, neat edges, and no seam allowance to turn under.
  • Dozens of illustrations make it easy to produce for own fused appliqué masterpiece that is soft and flexible, unlike many quilts made with traditional fusing methods.
  • Enticing embellishments, such as very narrow bias stems, couched thread details, and really tiny circles, are served up in style by these international prize-winning quiltmakers.
  • Five charming projects will help you learn to create your own embroidered background fabrics, embellished bindings, looped edges, and much more.
