About
the Author
Jeanne Perrine was born in Illinois, raised in Michigan, and has
lived in Georgia, Utah, Germany and two tours in Alaska giving her
a wide and varied scope of cultures to draw from. She now resides
with her husband, Jerle, in the Chicago suburbs. She is a wife and
mother of two grown children, a Registered Nurse, and teaches quilting,
sewing and stained glass to all who will sit still long enough.
Daughter Trilisa is a Doctoral candidate at the University of Chicago
and son Luke makes his home in Alaska.
Creativity has always been an important part of Jeanne's life.
A major compnent of expressing that creativity has been the medium
of fabric. She has sewn from the time she could reach both the treadle
and the machine top at the same time. As a child she would make
"creations" out of the most unusual items. Not all of
them were beautiful but they were all unique. Not being able to
read pattern instructions at the age of five didn't stop her from
designing great outfits for her dolls or herself. Granted, the clothing
didn't always fit. But let's face it, it's all about the journey
and the learning process anyway. Figuring out how to construct an
article out of an idea and incorporating the design lines, textures
and colors has always been a joy to her.
When Jeanne is asked, "How long have you been sewing?"
Her response usually goes something like this. "I can't remember
the time when the need to be creative wasn't a part of me. That
creativity routinely manifests itself in sewing." Jeanne has
been sewing since she was a little girl under the tutelage of her
mother. she's studied color and design on her own for some thirty-five
years. She has received first place and "Best of Show"
awards in stained glass work in statewide competitions on numerous
occasions. As a teenager she took honors for 4-H sewing ensembles
and modeling her creations. She spends more time now in teaching
and developing patterns.
