Back Cover Information

The more than 80 works that make up Quilt National 2007 reflect the development and growth of the medium today. For 27 years, this exhibit, called the "premier international showcase for contemporary quilts" by the Wall Street Journal, has presented the most innovative and exciting entries from around the world as a source of insight and inspiration for artists, collectors and enthusiasts.

About the Producer

The Dairy Barn Southeastern Ohio Cultural Arts Center is a unique arts facility in the Appalachian foothills. Its year-round calendar of events features both juried and curated exhibitions of work by regional, national and international artists. In addition, the facility is the venue for festivals, performances and a full range of classes for children and adults.

The history of the Dairy Barn is as colorful as its exhibits. Built in 1913, the structure housed an active dairy herd until the late 1960s. After sitting idle about 10 years, the building was scheduled for demolition. Fortunately, local artist Harriet Anderson and her husband Ora recognized the building's potential as a much-needed regional arts center. They worked tirelessly to rally community support to save the dilapidated structure. With only nine days to spare, the demolition order was reversed and the building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Dairy Barn Southeastern Ohio Cultural Arts Center, a nonprofit organization, was born.

Early 2001 saw the completion of a one-million dollar renovation project. The ground level now houses a 6,600 square-foot exhibition space and a 400 square-foot retail gift shop that features work by regional and exhibiting artists. The formerly unused 7,000 square-foot upper-level haymow now includes two large classroom spaces, three large multipurpose rooms suitable for classes, performances and special events, offices for the staff and storage space.
