"Color
lifts me", says Suzanne Sievers. "It makes my working day a happy one.
My design philosophy is to create something that I and others will enjoy."
This collection of Suzanne's patterns is indeed lighthearted. It's also ultra-stylish with its plentiful polka dots, fantasy flowers, and artistic appliqués. "I love pink with black," the Jefferson, Iowa resident says. "And I like experimenting with new or unconventional fabrics to make items that are cute and trendy."
When Suzanne is asked how she came up with the feminine theme for this collection, she laughs a little. "When my daughter was fourteen, she suddenly decided to make a purse. It inspired me to create designs of my own. I began with the sweatshirts in this collection, then progressed to quilting. There's a block in the quilted wall hanging that features the purse my daughter made. It's the polka-dot one on the left."
Suzanne's designs, with their high-heeled shoes, hats, and blossoms will inspire women of all ages to fall in love with this classic fashion theme. The clear instructions make it simple to create the pair of "girly girl" handbags with beaded handles, the comforter, and the pillow. The same goes for converting a sweatshirt into a ladylike jacket or a scallop-edge pullover.
"All of my designs are within the ability range of any beginner" says Suzanne. "And I put a big emphasis on durability. My garment and quilt designs are completely washable." And that's good news for any fashionista who wants her creations to last a long, long time!
