Introduction

Oh... the beauty of the perfect shade of golden yellow, the yummy hue of a burgundy red, and the crispness of a crystal blue! Can you tell I love color? Specifically color in fabric. To me, a stunning piece of fabric is art in itself.

From my first hand-stitched doll dress to my latest quilt, focusing on innovative use of color has been my key to creating lovely things. As I tend to view color in fabric a tad differently than most people, my projects usually have a distinctive look.

In this book I will walk you through my design process and show you how I use color in fabric to achieve that "look." And by the end of the book you will boldly be using color in fabric to paint fabulous quilts,,,,,I promise!

Meet the Author

For many years, I worked as a computer programmer. Then I discovered quilting, and the word "software" took on a whole new meaning for me. I began my quilting career as a teacher and then progressed into pattern design. Most of my quilts are whimsical, folksy applique designs, and they range from wall hangings, placemats and table runners, to lap and bed quilts.

The best part of all this? My quilted creations have given me full time employment as a designer of fabrics and patterns. When I'm not working in my studio, I am answering E-mails from quilters, teaching, and traveling to trade shows, guild meetings and lectures. I have also been a regular contributor to several leading quilt magazines—it's so much fun to see your work on those glossy pages!
