About the Author: Kathy Emmel loved art as a very young child. She has been teaching in public schools for almost 30 years and during 17 of those years, she made large group quilts with second through sixth grade children. A Master's Degree in Creative Arts solidified her belief that children learn best through hands-on, arts-based techniques.
As a quilter, Kathy has made more than 100 quilts since the 1970's and continues to love working with fabric and design. She is active in the Colorado Quilting Council and has been their newsletter editor since 1999. She also serves on the board of the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum and edits their newsletter as well.
Her quilts have been exhibited at the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum, the Museum of the American Quilters Society, the International Quilt Festival, the Vermont Quilt Festival, the American Quilters Society Show, Quilt Expo in Barcelona Spain, the Road to California Show, the Husqvarna Viking National Convention, the Kokusai Art Traveling Exhibit, Tokyo, Japan and at local venues throughout Colorado.
