About the Author

Kim Schaefer is from southeastern Wisconsin, where she lives with her husband, Gary and sons, Max, Ben, Sam, and Gator, and dog, Rio-all of whom she lovingly refers to as the "Neanderthals". Kim and Gary also have two daughters, Cody and Ali. Cody lives nearby, and Ali attends college in Minnesota. Kim's stepsons, Gary Jr. and Dax, also live nearby and her stepdaughters, Tina and Danielle, live in Phoenix.

Kim began sewing at an early age, which, according to Kim, was a nightmare for her mom, who continually and patiently untangled bobbin messes. Kim was formally educated and the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, where she studied fine arts and majored in fibers. At age 23, Kim took her first quilting class and was immediately hooked.

In 1996, Little Country Quilts was born and made its debut at Quilt Market in Minneapolis. In addition to designing quilt patterns, Kim designs fabric for Andover/Makower and works with Leo Licensing, which licensees her designs for nonfabric products.
