About the Author

Karen Costello Soltys has been quilting since 1979 when she took her first quilting class from Susan Aylsworth Murwin, coauthor of Quick and Easy Patchwork on the Sewing Machine. Since then, Karen has made countless quilts for family, friends and charitable causes, mostly using machine techniques, but also including hand applique and hand quilting. While she has contributed quilts to other authors' books and edited many quilting books over the past 15 years, this is the first book she has authored.

Karen also enjoys rug hooking, knitting and basketmaking. Originally from southeastern Pennsylvania, she currently lives in western Washington.
