Karen Snyder likes to say she was a child of the Fifties, when cakes were made from boxed mixes, Jell-O was considered a salad, and clothes and adding were purchased ready-made. She always enjoyed being creative, however, and knew that someday she would be a quilter. In 1995, just after her forty-second birthday, she received a free quilt pattern in the mail, and decided is she was going to become a quilter, she'd better get started. Within three years, she has finished that quilt (a king-sized Grandmother's Flower Garden), made several more, and opened a quilt shop. Besides being the owner of Anna Lena's Quilt Shop, Karen teaches quilting classes, writes patterns under the name History Stitchery, and designs fabric for Andover Fabrics. She and her husband Bob Hamilton, live in beautiful Long Beach, WA, the town she grew up in.
