About the DesignerPatti Uhiren excels at taking and overlooked clothing, furniture and accessories and making it all better than new. And she does the job with real flair, tackling the messiest makeovers while looking ready to host a garden club Originally Patti started making Barbie clothes because Barbie didn't have a lot of ready-made clothes. she was nine years old and she was selling doll dresses to her friend. Sure enough, Patti's design success did begin with those early days of playing Bob Mackie. Of course, she also had three years of Design at the University of Wisconsin. And she spend several years managing the Leisure Arts Design Department. Not to mention her numerous television appearances on various craft programs. Patti says, "Anyone can embellish their clothes! That's the cool thing about embellishing - you don't have to know anything about fashion to make it work. You just pin your favorite trim to a garment that needs renewing, then stand back and sew if you want to commit to it. If you're not sure, put it away for a day or two. Then look at it again. If you decide you love it , go ahead and fuse it, glue it, or stitch it."
