Or you may be inspired to sew your own version with simple directions provided. About the AuthorDuring her twenty-four years as a full-time homemaker, EllynAnne Geisel never wore an apron. That changed in 1999, when she purchased a vintage apron to inspire her while writing an article about the old-fashioned symbol for mothering. Since tying on this domestic armor six years ago, EllynAnne has gathered more than three hundred aprons from all over America and listened to as many apron memories. Forever changed by the trust of those who shared their stories, she celebrates the spirit of the men and women who wore aprons through her traveling exhibit, Apron Chronicles: A Patchwork of American Recollections, now managed by the Women's Museum in Dallas, Texas, a Smithsonian affiliate.
