About the AuthorHilary Bowen was born in Dorchester, Dorset, in the southt of England, and at the age of 18 moved to Hampshire, also southern England, where she completed a degree in Psychology. After graduating she taught in schools for a few years before completing a Masters degree and then teaching in Higher Education. She is currently a University lecturer. Hilary ahs always been interested in a wide wariety of Arts and Crafts and has experimented with several different media, including woodturning, photography and silver jewellery. Her interest in textile art led her to develop her skills in making evening bags, which became the subject of this book. She is quoted as saying: "I love working with rich, colorful, tactile fabrics and trying out new techniques to create different effects."
