Anna Faustino

About the Author

Anna was born in Saint Petersburg, one of the most beautiful cities in Russia. This gorgeous city sits on five islands. There are 500 bridges over canals and rivers, beautiful cathedrals, churches, parks and gardens. The "white" summer nights are very special - the sun does not go down, and the sunset turns into sunrise.

Anna found her talent at a very young age. When she was only eight years old, she started to paint watercolor copies of classic reproductions. Her paintings were naive, but colorful. She like to paint swans in the lake and make furniture for her dolls from paper scraps of fabric, gluing them together. After high school, she wanted to be either an art teacher or a doctor, but the urge to create remained strong.

Upon graduating from college, she taught art to first through eighth grade students, acted as a stage and costumes decorator at the Kirov Theater of Opera and Ballet, and as a freelancer, knitting and designing sweaters.

Ann loves to work with textiles, threads, and other fiber media. She has a passion for creating art quilts. She has developed a few new techniques; some of them are presented in this book, and she is saving others for future books.

In 1995, she traveled to the United States to visit her sister and was lucky enough to obtain a green card and the absolute freedom and subsequent inspiration that came with it.
