About the Authors
Learn the rules and then bend them. This is Jennifer Kooy Zoeterman's
theory concerning sewing and quilting.
Having stitched most of her life, she's known for never following
a pattern to the letter, but changing it in some way to make it
hers. While teaching quilters for 10 years, Jennifer helped students
learn the correct techniques, but then encouraged them to put their
own creative spin on things.
Jennifer incorporated her love of sewing with her imaginative outlook
to co-create Pure Wool, a resource for needle-felting fibers,
supplies and patterns. Together with her business partner, Linda
Lenich, they have previously published designs in Hooked on Wool
and Needle Felting: Simple Techniques, Beautiful Projects, published
by Martingale.
She lives with her husband, Tim, in a Chicago suburb. Together
they raised their now-adult daughters, Sara and Rachel.
Linda Lenich believes that there must be a sewing gene passed
down through her maternal DNA, because she comes from a long succession
of women who loved to sew. Linda was born in Chicago and raised
near the sound of her mother's sewing machine.
It was while teaching and working for many years at a local quilt
shop that Linda developed an instant friendship with her coworker
and future business partner, Jennifer Zoeterman. Their combined
creative talents and boundless ideas are expressed in their first
book, Needle Felting: Simple Techniques, Beautiful Projects,
published by Martingale.
Linda is fascinated by the designs, textures and colors of vintage
fabrics and often wears vintage clothing or vintage accessories.
She and her husband, Michael, enjoy a happy and simple life in a
southern suburb of Chicago, Illinois.
