Beginner's Guide to Embroidered Boxes by Janet Edmonds is inspired by many aspects of ancient boxes. Her method presented in this book, unlike the traditional method which is very precise, is very forgiving and requires the minimum of measurement. Janet shows you how to develop designs and how to use layering and blending techniques to enrich surfaces using a combination of the machine and hand stitching skills that many embroideries already have.

About the AuthorJanet Edmonds studies stitched textiles at East Berkshire College and went on to gain a BA (Hons) in Art and Design at the University of Herfordshire. She now teaches embroidery at East Berkshire College and Missenden Abbey and she travels throughout the UK visiting branches of the Embroiderers' Guild, sharing her love of embroidery. When not teaching - gardening and walking in the beautiful Chiltern countryside provides Janet with the inspiration for her drawing, painting and stitching.
