Tips from the Authors

A Tip from Harriet:

Label a tomato pincushion for used-needle storage. Mark a different needle size and type in each section.

There is a 10% imperfection rate per package of new swing machine needles. So even a new needle may cause stitch problems.

Use the needle type, size and brand recommended for your machine and use a needle that complements your choice of thread.

A Tip from Alex:

Use an equal amount of quilting across the entire quilt surface. Quilting over pieced units is okay; it blends the elements of the quilt top.
