About the Author
From a very young age, Sharon Sebrow has enjoyed needlework
of all kinds. In high school home ec, Sharon had her first taste
of machine sewing. It wasn't until she was pregnant with her first
child, in 1989, that she started to do patchwork by machine. She
fell in love with the immediate gratification the strip-piecing
method provided. Once she started quilting, she took off and never
looked back.
Every chance she could, Sharon would share her sewing and quilting
knowledge. Whether it was teaching privately, as a guest quilter
in kindergarten classes in her children's elementary school, in
after-school clubs for second and third graders, or in the local
community adult education program, Sharon found delight and fulfillment
in teaching others how to sew and quilt.
Her ultimate joy in quilting is seeing the satisfaction of beginning
quilters when they are successful making a block or using a technique
they thought was beyond their capabilities and discovering how easy
it turned out to be. Two of her young students were recognized at
the 2004 New Jersey State Guild show.
In 2004, "Sharon Sews," a questions and answers column,
was first published by Quilt Magazine. In addition to her
column, Sharon began designing quilts and writing patterns for the
same publication. At the end of 2005, Sharon took a break to enjoy
the final weeks of her pregnancy and perfect her designs and technique
for the Kaleidoscope Smart-Plate template.
Sharon lives in northern New Jersey with her husband of 20 years,
her five children, ranging in ages from 3 to 19 and their dog.
