From the Author

Approximately ten years ago, I walked into a craft store for the first time in my adult life. That year my mother had given me some money for Christmas, and, instead of buying yet another winter coat, I decided to learn a new craft. After being immersed in graduate school for so long, I was desperate to put the computer away and create something tangible with my hands. When I walked into that craft store, I was overwhelmed by the choices in front of me. I strolled through the store marveling at all of the striking yarns and the smells of scented candle wax, yet I was lured by the colorful bolts of fabric that lined the back wall. In the end, I chose to quilt.

I spent the next couple of months honing my quilting skills and made a couple of other traditional quilts. As I started to get the hang of it, however, I realized I wanted something more out of fabric and stitch. That's when I stumbled upon crazy quilting and the wonderful world of novelty fabrics, beads and embellishment.
