Authors Jean B. MillsLorraine Torrence About the Authors

Lorraine Torrence was an art major in college and has an MFA in sculpture. Six months before graduating, she made her first quilt and has pursued quilts and wearable art as her primary medium since 1971. She teaches nationally and locally, judges wearable and quilt shows, owns a wearable art and quilt pattern business and has designed a line of fabric. In addition to her books with C&T Publishing, she has republished Design Essentials: The Quilter's Guide. Lorraine lives in Seattle with her husband, near their two grown children and two grandsons.

Jean Brautigam Mills is a fiber artist, life coach and psychotherapist of 28 years. She has a master's degree in clinical psychology with an emphasis in art therapy. Jean uses the creative process in all aspects of her work to help others heal and find new avenues for personal expression. A native of the Northwest, she is currently residing in Omaha Nebraska, where she creates her fiber collage work in a shared fiber art studio and gallery. She has facilitated creativity workshops in Santa Fe and Ireland, and is currently teaching fiber collage and design classes in Omaha and Seattle.
