Back Cover InformationBelieve it or not, the patterns is not new. The Day and Night block was published by Old Chelsea Station Needlecraft Service, a mail-order company begun in 1933. Patches were made with templates traced on cardboard and cut with scissors. The Day and Night Quilt uses a lot of fabric, so instructions are included for two additional projects to make from cut-aways. Introduction from the AuthorIt's Magical! It's like waving a magical wand and pulling a quilt out of a hat! I was told that Day and Night was easy to make. I didn't believe it! Once I started sewing, "Shazam" stars just jumped out of those strips. It all began when Michelle Countess joined a block exchange group on our Quilt in a Day Community Forum, a segment of El's Angels. She was sent a copy of the traditional Day and Night patterns and told to paper piece blocks for a block exchange. Michelle and I think alike when it comes to paper piecing. Ugh! She set out to discover an easier way by sewing sets of strips together, and cutting them up into triangles with a special triangle ruler. | Table of Contents |
