About the Author

Nancy J. Martin is a talented teacher and quiltmaker who has written more than 45 books on quiltmaking. An innovator in the quilting industry, she introduced the Bias Square cutting ruler to eager quilters Nancy was the 2002 recipient of the prestigious Silver Star Award. This recognition comes from Quilts, Inc. sponsor of the largest trade shows in the quilting industry, International Quilt Market and Festival. The award is presented annually to an individual whose artistry, enthusiasm and promotion of quilting has made a lasting impact on the quilting industry as well as quilters everywhere.

Nancy and her husband, Dan, founded Martingale & Company, the publisher of America's Best-Loved Quilt Books®, in 1976. After 31 years of leadership at Martingale, The Martins sold the publishing company to their employees in 2007. They remain on the Board of Directors at Martingale, while enjoying more time for local activities in the hometown on the western shores of Puget Sound.
