About the AuthorPrincess Mirah is the creative force behind the beautiful batik fabrics of Bali Fabrics, Inc. She cofounded the business in Bali in 1981 to bring Balinese batiks to the North American market. The princess grew up in the palace of Karangasem, built by her grandfather, Anak Agung Anglurah Ketut Karangasem, the last raja in Bali. The raja had an affinity for the artistic. He designed beautiful architectural palaces, water gardens, and temples and filled his palaces with inspirational artwork and furnishings. Princess Mirah certainly inherited her grandfather's interest in design along with the artistic skill she employs today to design new collections for Bali Fabrics. In her role as co-founder and designer for Bali Fabrics, Princess Mirah's goal has always been to preserve the ancient art form of batik making and to ensure her grandfather's legacy is kept alive.
