Big Blocks Easy Quilts
|
IntroductionQuilts designed with big blocks make up quickly! I love quilts with 10" fabric squares and 'Layer Cake' collections. These quilts have the handmade scrappy look that is so popular today. I want to share a few tips for working with 10" x 10" fabric squares and 'Layer Cakes collections.' My first step is to divide the 10" squares into groups of color ...Greens, Purples, Reds and Tans. For designing, I next estimate the number of squares I will need for the quilt center. Finally I use leftover squares and purchase a bit of yardage for the borders. Sometimes I need an extra square or two of a color - let's say Red - so I look for a Brown print with a lot of Red and move it to the Red stack .... and the same with other colors. Enjoy quilting!
