Back Cover Information

Making full-sized quilts from lots and lots and lots of small blocks has been a wonderful journey for the authors. The addictive nature of these small blocks—watching each one unfold into a captivating combination of color and fabric and seeing the possibilities realized as the quilts grew—propelled them to explore and to challenge themselves.

  • Create 10 exquisite bed-sized projects or use the blocks in small quilts if you prefer.
  • Find 'batch work' instructions in each project - work in short blocks of time to stay organized.
  • Let the beauty of old quilts inspire your fabric and design choices.

Author Mary Elizabeth Kinch Biz Storms
About the Authors

Mary Elizabeth started quilting in 1975 while working as an historical interpreter at Black Creek Pioneer Village. Passionate about creativity since she was very young and always fascinated with fabric and color, she obtained one of her degrees in fashion design. A life-long exposure to the arts and antiques has contributed to her love of design and her fondness for the antique quilts she studies and collects.

Mary Elizabeth presently designs interior environments and she encourages others to tap their own creative abilities. Mary Elizabeth lives in Toronto with her most cherished treasures, her three children.

After 15 years in advertising, Biz Storms redirected her life to marriage and children. A crib quilt for her daughter led to the world of quilting and eventually to writing quilt books.

Beyond her enthusiasm for quilting and collecting antique quilts, Biz and her husband share a love for dressage (a form of exhibition riding) and for Shakerhill, their country farm. Biz is equally passionate about heirloom apples, having created an orchard with over 500 varieties of apples, plus medlars (a small, brown, applelike fruit), quince and perry pears. Bee keeping, making hard cider and breeding red flesh apples also keep her busy.

Biz and her family live in Toronto with their three dogs. The horses stay at the farm!
