Introduction

Leisure Arts is pleased to offer these quilting instruction books as companions to Emilie's compelling Shenandoah Album stories. Each Quilt Along with Emilie Richards pattern book includes instructions to create quilts that are featured in the novels.

The latest is Quilt Along with Emilie Richards: Touching Stars, offering 9 projects as made by the SCC quilters and Miranda Duncan. These include designs for bed quilts, wall hangings, a table runner, pot holder and pillow.

Author Emilie Richards About the Author

Now a USA Todays bestselling author of women's fiction, Emilie Richards recalls fondly the months she served as a VISTA volunteer in the Arkansas Ozarks.

"This was the country's third poorest county," Emilie said in an interview from her Virginia home. "They had no phones, no safe water supply and no indoor plumbing. But the women created beauty out of nothing—turning scraps of old clothing and feedsacks into exquisitely beautiful quilts."

Emilie said the women insisted she quilt with them in the evenings and then later, they would take out my stitches, she laughingly recalls of her early attempts at the craft.

The 20-year-old college student was left with a richness of experience and a love of quilting that would forever change her life and ultimately inspire a series of novels about the age-old craft.

In Touching Stars, Emilie's fourth and newest Shenandoah Album novel in the popular series, quilts form a colorful backdrop in a gracious bed-and-breakfast. The owner of the inn is a hardworking single mother who learns from a Civil War widow the importance of recognizing love while letting go of the past. Her four pattern books offer fans a chance to create their own versions of the quilts in her novels.
