Back Cover Information

Stitches: New Approaches, a classic text by one of the UK's leading embroidery experts, aims to encourage embroiderers to enjoy stitches and stitching, and to explore the endless range of effects and textures that can be created. This book looks at over four hundred stitches and their variations. Each stitch is first presented in the traditional way of working, but suggestions follow for spacing and working it in more unusual ways, and with a wide variety of yarns. A section on design starting points introduces the reader to the principles of observing natural objects and interpreting them for embroidery.

About the Author

She teaches extensively in the UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand and Australia and is a member of the 62 Group. Jan presented the successful BBC TV series Embroidery and has appeared on ITV's This Morning and BBC's Good Morning with Anne and Nick.
