Back Cover Information

A Perfect World in ribbon embroidery & stumpwork is a must-have item for all ribbon embroidery and stumpwork fans. Packed with new ideas and techniques, it will appeal not only to embroiderers, but also to other crafters such as quilters, knitters, fabric painters, scrapbookers or home decor enthusiasts. Included in each panel are inventive ideas on combining ribbon embroidery and especially stumpwork with other crafts to create unique and special projects.

There are 17 panels in this magnificent sampler and 60 different elements in the design with a clear stitch gallery to guide you. Flowers and creatures from all over the world, many of them never done before, are included in the sampler, so there is something for everyone. Each element is shown step by step with clear photographs. This book is an ideal learning tool for beginner embroiderers wishing to learn the craft, yet it offers more advanced embroiderers several new and exciting techniques. You can embroider the complete sampler or a single panel for smaller projects. Or choose just one element from a panel (a beautiful butterfly or a bunch of English Bluebells, for instance) and add these to your own design. No creative embroiderer will want to be without this truly beautiful book..

About the Author

DI van Niekerk lives in Newlands, Cape Town, and her inspiration still comes from the breathtaking scenes on this side of Table Mountain.

DI began with needlecrafts at a very young age and is passionate about all embroidery but ribbon embroidery combined with stumpwork is her absolute favorite. She has taught all types of needlecraft for more than 20 years throughout South Africa, training self-help groups in the Eastern Cape and Lesotho teaching them candlewicking, quilting and ribbon embroidery. Battling to cope with the long waiting list for classes DI decided to package designs with step by step instructions in kit form so that different groups could start their own classes secure in the knowledge that the instructions would guide them. This soon developed into a fully-fledged mail order business with orders for ribbons, books and designs, dispatched all over the world. In addition to hand painting her own range of silk and organza ribbons and marketing them to retail outlets worldwide, she runs two busy embroidery shops in Cape Town. Author of several books on needlecrafts, Di's latest title, Dreamscapes in ribbon embroidery and stumpwork, is another international bestseller translated into several languages.
