From the Author

Whether you're taking your first steps toward making your own jewelry or you're an experienced enthusiast, I hope this book will inspire you to play with and enjoy the jewelry you can create with beads, wire and pretty little accents.

My starting point when choosing materials is to look around the house. Button collections, beads from broken chains, flea market finds, loose pendants, little treasures from nature and even Grandmother's workbasket can offer a wealth of small objects.

After many years of experimentation, I have discovered that a super idea isn't always so wonderful once I've actually tried it. How many wires should I form and bend, how tightly should copper wire be crocheted and how many colors should be combined? You may feel a little overwhelmed at first, but that's often how the creative process works. Keep playing and building your skills and let the materials guide you.
