About the Author

Mary Hickey has been a best-selling author, a teacher and an influential leader in the quilting world for almost 30 years. As a master designer, Mary continually brings new ideas to quiltmaking, focusing her energies on creating fresh-looking designs, clever techniques and updating traditional patterns. Her primary goal is to create projects and write instructions that enable quiltmakers to create beautiful, tradtional-style quilts that look complex, artistic and stunning but are fun and easy to make.

Mary lives in the northwestern coastal area of Washington State, where she thoroughly enjoys her family, especially her granddaughters, Audrey and Ava. She loves listening to baseball, opera and books on tape while stitching on her porch swing and watching the eagles, seals and an occasional whale in Liberty Bay.
