Today, we sew and quilt for the sheer joy of the experience. The finished project may have a purpose but it's the creative process itself that excites us. The quilts in Quilting for Joy by Barbara Brandeburg and Teri Christopherson symbolize the things that bring us joy - family, friends, holidays, nature.

Back Cover Information

Today's quilters don't quilt out of necessity: they quilt for the sheer joy of it. Popular quilt-designing sisters Barbara and Teri have collaborated again to create an outstanding collection of projects that express their love of quilting. In a beautiful blend of both traditional and trendy fabrics and colors, these projects are full of joyful possibilities.

  • Choose from 14 projects using piecing and fusible applique.
  • With a focus on hobbies and interests—family, gardening, friendships, holidays, home and cooking—there's something for every quilter.

Author Teri Christopherson Author Barbara Brandeburg About the Authors

When Teri Christopherson was five years old, her mother sat her at the sewing machine and began what was to become a lifelong passion. By the time Teri was a teenage, she was spending all her spare change at the fabric store and sewing all her own clothes. She taught herself to quilt while in college, and a few years later as a young mother in search of a home business, she started her quilt-pattern business, Black Mountain Quilts

As the mother of four children, Teri knows how hard it is to find time to quilt. She loves designing quilts that are quick and easy to make, yet still look impressive. She has designed hundreds of quilts and has authored more than 20 books and 30 patterns.

When she isn't quilting, Teri enjoys reading, throwing parties and volunteering at church. She lives with her husband and four children near Mission Viejo, California.

Barbara Brandeburg has a vivid memory of her first trip to the fabric store with her mother as a young girl. Her heart raced and a passion for fabric and color was born. She has been designing and playing with both in one form or another every since. She a her five sisters loved life around the sewing room with their sewing entrepreneur mother in a home filled with creativity and lots of girl gab time.

In the early nineties, Barbara and her sister Teri plunged into a fun adventure, sewing quilt to sell in boutiques in a darling little apple-and-antiques town called Julian, in Southern California. It was a natural next step to move onto pattern designing. Barbara launched Cabbage Rose with her first quilt designs and now has over 20 books, dozens of patterns, quilt fabrics, and giftware credited to her name. She gets a thrill out of the process of creating something better—usually a traditional theme with a new twist of trendy color and pattern.

While not designing, Barbara loves to garden, kayak and take long river-trail walks in the woods. She and her husband John live near the rivers, lakes and mountains of northern California. Their daughter Katie is away at college, while their son Travis serves in the army. Barbara's biggest new joy is her daughter-in-law Amber and grandson Hunter.
