About the Author

Kim Schaefer is from southeastern Wisconsin, where she lives with her husband, Gary, her sons, Max, Ben, Sam and Gator and her dog, Rio - all of whom she lovingly refers to as the "Neanderthals". Kim and Gary also have two daughters, Cody and Ali. Cody lives nearby and Ali attends college in Minnesota. Kim's stepson, Gary Jr. and Dax also live nearby and her stepdaughters, Tina and Danielle, live in Phoenix.

Kim began sewing at an early age, which Kim says was a nightmare for her mom, who continually, and patiently untangled bobbin messes. Kim was formally educated at the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, where she studied fine arts and majored in fiber. At age 23, Kim took her first quilting class and was immediately hooked.

In 1996, Little Quilt Company was born and made its debut at Quilt Market in Minneapolis. In addition to designing quilt patterns, Kim designs fabric for Andover/Makower and works with Leo Licensing, who licenses her designs for nonfabric products.
