About the Author

Raised in Southern California, Melinda Bula has been in love with fabric and sewing since she was a young girl. She made her first quilt in 1976 when she was just out of high school and her second one when she was stationed in Hawaii as a flight attendant. Three years later she moved to San Francisco where she met her husband, Joe.

Educated in art and design, Melinda worked in interior design for 15 years as a fabric and wallpaper designer. She and her husband started their own wallpaper-and fabric-design business soon after the birth of their son, Matthew, in 1988. The company, Melinda Bule Designs, sold hand-silk-screened wallpapers and fabrics nationwide. Melinda's wallpaper and fabric designs have been featured on the cover of several issue of Better Homes and Gardens magazine as well as in Sunset design books and other noted publications.
