Introduction from the Author
Flower - I love them!!
I think one of the reasons I love flowers is that
I lived for the first 25 years of my life in The Netherlands - the
land of tulips. I recall as a child my excitement when I would find
the first flowers in bloom each spring, often crocuses peeking through
a layer of snow. Even now I experience a twinge of homesickness
when I see pictures of the tulip field and the stunning display
of flowers in Keukenhof -the largest display of bulb flowers in
the world. The tulip fields that extend for mile after mile with
alternating strips of colors look like the world's largest flower
The range of colors and shapes of flowers is so great
that I had more subjects for patterns than I could possible hope
to design. One of the more enjoyable aspects of designing patterns
for this book was poring over the hundreds of flower pictures and
finding those special ones that I wanted to feature.
I believe God created the vast array of flowers to
provide beautiful exclamation points in His creation. I hope I can
help you capture some of that beauty through these patterns and
that you will enjoy creating your own floral fantasies!
