Introduction from the Author

Now that you have learned the basics from I Can't Believe I'm Quilting Beginner's Complete Guide, I want to introduce you to some advanced quilting techniques that will enhance your skills and spark you creativity.

In this book you will learn my easy method for making Flying Geese, how to speed the quilt making process with Chain Piecing and the secrets to perfect Curved Piecing. You will experience the fun of Paper-Piecing, give your quilt a different look by setting Blocks on Point and much more!

Each technique is presented in lesson form with a companion project. The size of the projects allows you enough practice time to get comfortable with your new skills yet still finish the projects quickly.

I wish you the best of luck as you explore this next level of quilting. I know you will use these new skills over and over again when you quilt!

Author Pat SloanAbout the Author

Want to know anything about quilts? Just ask Pat Sloan. Or attend her workshop. Or get one of her books. Want to stump Pat Sloan? Ask her about her hobbies and she says after a long pause and a chuckle, "I like to garden. But really, my life is all about quilting, twenty-four/ seven."

"Our time to just relax happens while my husband and I travel for work," the Virginia resident says, "Gregg and drive to most of our workshops and lectures because of all the quilts and equipment we bring along.

She has been fulltime at this career since 2000. Gregg does the management, shipping, ordering, accounting, wrangling the quilts and the sound equipment—keeping her free to teach, lecture and do the creative side.

Allocating her at-home time between drawing patterns and developing fabrics, Pat still finds time to update her Web site. Visitors to QuiltersHome.com can read her blog, subscribe to her newsletter and check for workshops in their area.

With her business doing so well, you might think that the Sloans would be ready to just sit back and take it easy now and then. Instead, Gregg and Pat have found a way to take their work with them on vacation. They've recently added quilting cruises to their schedule of events, with Pat teaching up to 50 students between ports of call.

In an affectionate salute to their favorite designer, Pat's most devoted fans call themselves "Sloanies." Pat knows that today's quilters want to enjoy themselves while they learn. And if there's anyone who can take the fun craft of quilting and make it downright exhilarating, it's Pat Sloan
