About the AuthorBeverly Maxvill discovered quilts while attending art classes at her local community college in the 1970s. Although she had been sewing since the age of five, she had never seen or heard of quiltmaking. She noticed an Amish Bars quilt that was displayed behind a folk-art horse in a decorating magazine, and it was love at first sight. As a result, she began studying antique quilts, which combined all her favorite thins - history, drafting, math, geometry and color. Beverly began making and selling quilts, which led to teaching quiltmaking and then opening a quilt shop in 1981. Her store keeps her busy designing patterns for all the new fabric lines she carries, teaching new techniques and attending to her customers' needs. In addition to the paper-pieced designs in this book, Beverly also creates patterns for patchwork, applique, crazy quilting and hand embroidery. You can find her other designs through her quilt shop and online.
