Explore the fascinating world of seven-by-seven and
five-by-five designs. The Encyclopedia of Patchwork Blocks, Volume
4, is a collection of 109 blocks that are divided into seven
or five equal units in each direction- old favorites like Bear's
Paw, Dove in the Window and Rolling Star, and new blocks with names
like Graduation, Portland Headlight and Central Square, plus a dozen
baskets and a variety of blocks suitable for signatures and specialty
prints. Full of ideas for rotary cutting, sewing tricks and quilt
layouts, this book will inspire you every time you pick it up. Blocks
are featured in up to four sizes and keyed for use with
Perfect Patchwork Templates Sets L and M; patterns
are also included.
Sets L and M are size-specific. Set L's 8 1/2" blocks
become 12" blocks when they are set on point, so the templates extended
the creative possibilities again! (Set M blocks become 17" set on
point.)
On the above page page, Grandmother's Choice is the
parent block to four offspring, and two of those blocks are new
designs. On the facing page (not illustrated here) are two quilt
layouts and general information about making them. (The block encyclopedias
are chock full of blocks and tips, but they are not "learn to quilt"
books.)
"Special Notes" is a note that these blocks can be
made in additional sizes using Sets A/C and B/D, and Volume 2. Volume
4 also includes details on how to use the templates to measure and
cut strips that are the perfect width for using the templates with
your rotary cutter.
