Computer Quilting has come of Age!
What does it have to offer you the quilter?
by Sharla HicksPrimitive Quilting Design Explored in Quilt Pro
Lynda is a quilt pattern designer and distributes her patterns under her company name, Primitive Pieces. She has her own website. Lynda uses Quilt-Pro to explore the large scale blocks and primitive feel found in her quilts designs. Using Quilt-Pro helps her find secondary patterns when combining blocks. The Quilt-Pro fabric palettes help her explore color options. Templates and calculates yardage is simple as all the work is completed by the quilting software.
When Lynda adds applique, if she finds what she likes in Quilt-Pro provided shape, she will use the applique stamp for repeats. Sometimes she does not find the exact shape she wants to use, then she creates the the rough shape placement in Quilt-Pro and then hand draws the final shapes.

The applique shapes were roughly drawn in Quilt-Pro using layers to keep the shapes
separate from the pieced blocks.

A Tisket A Tasket was shown as a set prop when Simply Quilts taped this episode.
It is another example of Lynda's rustic style.

The
final shapes where hand drawn.

Designed
in Quilt-Pro. Star on a Tin Roof
uses a single block that is repeated four times. The repeat
creates a double
seceondary pattern that makes the larger center star block and the star sashing.
This is the type of design ideas that are easily explored in quilting software.
